Hebrews 12:1-2
"...let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith..."

A Little Bit of Everything

I know it's been over a week since my last post.  I always have good intentions to post more regularly, but the 'littles' take a lot of time and if I have to choose to blog or spend time with them, I choose them. It's hard to believe that it has been a month since they've been home..yet, on the flip side, it seems like forever.  I know that people wonder what I do all day.  I play, hug, kiss, redirect, put in time out....and on and on.  One of our littles has the energy like the Energizer Bunny. No joke.  He doesn't stop until you turn on the television which is only about 20 minutes a day to watch a Curious George or Clifford the Dog episode.  It would be SO EASY to let him plop down for several hours in front of the t.v. just so that I could get something done, but that's not "the Leland family plan".  We have had two family movie nights in the past month.  It is so interesting that our boys take on totally different personalities...Jayden is GLUED to the movie and becomes QUIET while Tate watches and NARRATES the entire time.  Crazy.

Hey people, after a month of the littles whizzing on their shower curtain, I decided the bad smell in their bathroom was because the curtain needed washed.  I washed it Friday and it was nice and clean and smelled really good (Downy fresh!)  This kind of excitement is glorious to me at this point in my life!!  LESS THAN 24 HOURS LATER, this is what Kurt found on Saturday when Jayden went in to sooba by himself....

NOW you understand why I feel like I need to direct everyone during sooba and soomba moments.  Sometimes they steal off on their own to the bathroom (which I actually think is great) and we find them sitting (with hands hanging on tight--yuck!) to soomba without the toilet seat down.  Steady there mate, we don't want to have to do a rescue of man overboard.

I attempted my first trip for groceries last week and I let each of the littles be my "helper" and hang on to a jello for me for the reasoning of distraction and their entertainment.  When I unloaded my groceries on the belt, this was what I had to hand to the cashier (at that time it was half soaked cardboard from slobber.)

I have come to realize that I cannot be in a hurry when I go to put on my shoes because I will spend many minutes trying to undo what my littles have done.  Guaranteed.

Since Sunday was such a BEAUTIFUL day, we decided to get the grill out.  We have specifically fed the littles only nutritious food.  We do a lot of protein and absolutely no sweets or junk.  Since they have had malnutrition and their bellies are extended, we need to feed them everything that is good for them.  But on Sunday we made an exception to that and we introduced them to hot dogs...and they LOVED them.  So, last week they learned about baseball and Sunday they had hot dogs...Kurt says he sees an Iowa Cubs game upcoming for them this summer.

Kurt gave them each one of his old baseball hats.  We told them to get their shoes on so we could go play baseball outside...this is what they came up with.  (I tell ya, they LOVE their boots!)

  1. Love the update! And way to go with "the Leland Family plan." SO WORTH IT!!

  2. I love keeping up with you and your journey! I think about you and pray for you often! I trust God is giving you strength for each day!
