Hebrews 12:1-2
"...let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith..."

All the Time in the World

Genesis 32 tells us how Jacob wrestled with God, clinging to Him and asking for His blessing.  I feel like I've been wrestling with God a bit.  Unfortunately, my mindset has been more questioning God's path and direction and wanting Him to bless in the way I see fit.  I will be quite honest in saying that sometimes, the way God does things, just doesn't make sense to me.  That is where faith steps in.

There are some people in this world that demand an answer or attempt to explain away everything that pertains to God.  If we could do that, then faith would not be faith would it?  Faith in the atoning blood of Jesus is the only thing  that saves a sinner from eternal death.  (Eph. 2:8-9)  Faith is the one thing that God commends over and over again in the Bible.  (Hebrews 11)  Without faith, we cannot please God (Heb. 11:6).  Faith requires us to lean and trust in the Almighty God when things are completely out of our control--when we are poured out and emptied of ourselves.  Faith develops perseverance to make us mature in Christ (James 1:3-4)  It refines us.

Recently, we have received news from our agency that the adoption process may take longer than initially planned.  It appears that it now might be 7-11 months after we receive the referrals of our children until the adoptions are completed.  We have yet to receive our referrals.  I was pretty discouraged when we first heard this and whined to Kurt, "We don't have time!" But my husband...my incredible, patient, trusting husband replied, "We have all the time in the world."

So, I am (once again) reminded that I can have faith in God's perfect plans.  The maturing process always takes time.  Refining sometimes hurts and it isn't always what I want.  Thankfully though, when we are called by God and lovingly follow His lead, we can rest in the promise of Romans 8:28,

"And we know that in ALL things
God works for THE GOOD of those who
love him, who have been called
according to his purpose."
